Key Stage 2 (Juniors 7-11)

Here are some fun and easy activities for Key Stage 2 pupils/children aged 7-11. The activities can be done on their own, or linked to Macmillan events such as The Big Sports Day.

How can I stay fit and healthy?

This activity is linked to elements of Personal Social Health Education (Health and Wellbeing/ Personal Development and Mutual Understanding/ PSE) and Physical Education.

Desired learning outcomes:

  • Pupils will consider how healthy their lifestyle is.
  • Pupils will understand that there are ways to reduce their chances of getting ill and even developing an illness such as cancer.
  • Pupils will put their suggestions into practice.

What is a Macmillan nurse?

This activity is linked to elements of Personal Social Health Education (Health and Wellbeing/ Personal Development and Mutual Understanding/ PSE).

Desired learning outcomes:

  • Pupils will make connections and see relationships based on pictorial evidence.
  • Pupils will understand what a Macmillan nurse does.

What is cancer and how can Macmillan help?

This activity is linked to elements of Personal Social Health Education (Health and Wellbeing/ Learning for Life and Work / PSE) and English, ICT and Science.

Desired learning outcomes:

  • Pupils learn the basic facts about cancer
  • Pupils consider and empathise with the emotions often felt by people who are affected by cancer.
  • Pupils understand how Macmillan helps people with cancer.
