Here are some fun and easy activities for Key Stage 3 students/young people aged 11-14. These activities can be done on their own, or linked to Macmillan events such as The Big Sports Day or The World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

Understanding cancer

This fun activity is linked to elements of the National Curriculum: Personal Social Health Education (PSD and PSE), English, ICT, and Science.

Learning outcomes

  • learn the basic facts about cancer
  • consider and empathise with the emotions often felt by people who are affected by cancer
  • learn about how Macmillan helps people with cancer.

  • understand how Macmillan Cancer Support helps people living with cancer
  • use the Why Bother website? as a way of exploring how messages are communicated and impressions created.

Look after your health

This exciting activity is linked to elements of the National Curriculum: Personal Social Health Education (PSD and PSE) ICT, English, and Art area.

Learning outcomes

  • learn the facts about cancer and how Macmillan helps people living with cancer
  • consider personal lifestyle in terms of health
  • understand that there are ways to reduce the chance of getting ill, even developing cancer
  • actively put their healthy lifestyle suggestions into practice.
