School talks

Macmillan can provide speakers to talk about our work for people affected by cancer.

Macmillan speakers can present in assemblies and other school community events, give hands-on support in fundraising or awareness events, and are involved in seeking ways to work with local schools and organisations.

As cancer and health lifestyle choices are relevant to a large number of subject areas, our speakers may be able to give short talks in a range of lessons, tailoring their talks to meet your needs.

This was the best visiting speaker I’ve seen in my 6 years of teaching.Secondary school teacher, Swansea

I especially thought the presenter knew how to work with children, when to stop and get quiet, when to proceed, terrific, wonderful, and very interesting.Primary school teacher, Sheffield.

I was most impressed by the enthusiasm and clarity of your speaker.Primary teacher, London

I learned lots from the lady from Macmillan. It was good to learn about helping people with cancer. She was fun and I hope she comes back again.Primary pupil, Coventry

Whether you want to learn more about Macmillan and our work in your local area or focus on charities in a class or assembly, or even introduce the subject of cancer in your school – inviting a Macmillan speaker to your school or group is a great way to kick-start your discussions. These talks will motivate pupils to support organisations like Macmillan, and understand more about how they can help people in their local area.

If you would like to be put in touch with your local Macmillan speaker to discuss your school’s needs and arrange a visit or join our group of schools and youth speakers, please contact us.
